January 23, 2017- I'm Moving

So...... Transfers are tomorrow! I just got a call that I will be packing and most likely Elder Kim will be coming back to Flushing! So..... I finally get to be a junior companion! The cool thing is though...... I will still be the District Leader! So that will be interesting. Haha but everyone thinks now that I will be training the new Korean Elder coming in March. His name is Elder Blackford. Awesome thing about being the only Korean District in the mission is that you know who is coming in already and can guess who is training. So that was today for you haha! I'm pretty excited though, even though it will be hard and I need to learn some Korean very quickly! Korean is getting better! Sure it is still hard, but I really enjoy reading Korean! Speaking and stuff is still really rough, but I love just sitting down and reading the Book of Mormon, pamphlets, or talks in Korean. :)

This week I've traveled a lot! I went to Jamaica twice which is the area right under Flushing! It's only 5 miles away but it took 40 minutes to get there! That's what happens when your in the city ;) I went there with a member on splits. We visited a guy who is at the hospital he is super cool. His name is John. He served a mission in Korea and then served in the US ARMY over in Korea.

This week we just had fun and tried to find people like crazy! We found one person who lives in Manhattan, his name is Jimmy. He came all the way from Manhattan on Sunday just to meet with us for a lesson! He is super energetic and fun. He has a lot of struggles in life, but doesn't let that get him down.

It will be exciting to see what happens with him! I hope everyone had a wonderful week! I know I sure did. I learned a lot about myself this transfer! I had to learn patience.... A lot of patience! You will get along with some companions, but that doesn't mean that you will agree with everything they say. That's what I had to learn this transfer! I also realized that I have to take a look at myself first. Maybe there was something I needed to fix. That's when I  saw the changes in myself and my companions!

I challenge all of you, if you have a relationship with someone that may not be the best. First look inside yourself, change what you can change, then the rest will fall into place.  If you truly do all you can to change yourself and make it better, it works! If it doesn't just know that it's not because of you!

Love you all!

January 16, 2017- The Week of the Trainee

Hey everyone! Sorry about the group email last week! I went to the
Manhattan temple for my 6 month mark!! Wow I've been out for 6 months
it's kind of crazy to think about! This week was Elder Jarman's 5th
week on the mission. So........ Elder Ha and I made him lead this week
as part of his training! It was so fun! Partly because at times he
didn't know how to get around the city haha ;) we took wrong buses,
almost took the wrong subway train... he also had to lead a Korean
lesson and had to tell us what we were gonna do each day! :) it was a
great experience for him and he grew so much from it!

Our Trio is pretty awesome I would have to say! Sorry about emails
haha I should probably start writing these bad boys out in the
morning! I'll do better next week I promise! I also have a ton of
pictures to send!

Hope everyone is enjoying life! It is still hard to find
investigators! We found an old 80 year old man that is super nice! His
name is 권 도영 or brother Kwan for everyone else ;) hopefully everything
starts going well. We have met with him twice so far! The work is
great I am having so much fun!

I can honestly say now even only after being out for 6 months: I can't
come back the same person anymore. The mission has changed me so much!
Honestly I have a changed view on everything. How I treat others and
how I can trust God more than ever. Everything I do anything I ask for
I know God will answer and help me!

I love you all! Till next time!!

Jan 3, 2017- The Year of the Missionary

Hey everyone! Wow I hope everyone had a great year and hopefully everyone made some great goals to start 2017 off right! Well like the title says this is my year as a missionary. It's so awesome to think that I will be out here in New York serving the Lord for this whole year! I love it! Next week on Tuesday I will be going to the Manhattan temple for my 6 month mark temple trip! Preparation day will also be on Tuesday next week! It's so weird to see time go by so fast. It felt like yesterday I was in the MTC trying to adjust and learn a language.

My week was pretty great! On Wednesday we had exchanges with the Chinese zone leaders Elder Wu and Elder Switzer. Elder Ha and Elder Jarman went with Elder Wu. I went with Elder Switzer. He is so funny and such a great missionary. He is going home in 3 weeks and is still such a consecrated missionary. It was such a fun time and we ate some good food at a Chinese member's home. It was so good! They are such great leaders I love them!

Also Saturday night we had to be in at 6pm! So we had some fun and I think my boys would know how it was! We played monopoly all night! Haha we had a lot of fun and just drank a ton of apple cider!

Yesterday we had interviews with President Reynolds. He is such an amazing man! I look up to him so much! Honestly he is my role model. He is very spiritual and knows what to say and how to say it. It was great to be in a position where we got to talk to each other about the District.  It was a great!

I learned this week and after talking to President, that I need to pray more intently and sincerely. So I challenge all of you to pray more intently this week! Really talk to our Father in Heaven this week!

I love all of you and hope everyone had a great New Years!

Till next Tuesday!!!

Dec 12, 2016- The New District (A Surprise!)

So this last week went by pretty quickly! The thing is I just got
smacked in the face today! I got some big news this morning :) Elder
Ha and I have just finished training this week and are heading into a
Transfers tomorrow. Elder Kim will be leaving us and Elder Ha just got
called to train a new Korean Elder! I just got called this morning and
will be the new District Leader.... I was shocked! We have two rookies
one is training and one is District Leader :) haha I will have a great
experience but I know it will be hard! I will have to work even harder
now to lead my District!

So that is the big news this week! I will tell you how it all goes
next week after we finish a week haha I hope I do alright :) this
preparation day was cut short because I will be going to the temple
Saturday with our Branch! So Saturday I will be able to email again :)

I learned a lot this Transfer. A lot about patience and diligence. We
are all given trials to test our faith. Always remember that God will
never give us a trial that we can not handle. I know sometimes it
might seem impossible that this one trial is too hard. Let me just
say, if we use Christ's Atonement he can help us overcome all. I know
I will need his strength and help these next few transfers as I am put
into a new assignment!

I love you all! Have a great week!

Dec 5, 2016- Last Week of Transfers

So as it says in the title, it is the last week of the Transfer! Wow
time does fly by! This next Transfer we will be getting a new Korean
missionary. So that means either Elder Kim, Ha, or I could be
training! So it will be interesting to see what happens!

This week was the start of December, so that means we got to start our
Christmas initiative!! "Light the World" you can find the video we
show on Mormon.org! We made a sweet poster that we would walk around
with on the street!! It actually worked very well and a lot of people
just stared at it haha. It kind of looked like little kids made it,
but hey it was effective! :)

It was a fun week! And tomorrow..... we have a baptism in the Korean
Branch!!! It is the sisters investigator her name is 김동화. She is
honestly so amazing! She speaks perfect Korean and Chinese. She is a
person that has totally committed herself into following Christ and
his example! She is so amazing! I'll send pictures of it next week!

I hope everyone's week is a great one! I invite all of you to go check
out that video! Remember the true meaning of Christmas this year!

I love you all!!!!
